Even when I was pursuing other interests my life has always been dominated by two of my many interests; art and animals. Fortunately these are two very compatible interests; the more I draw them the more I need to know about them, the more I learn about animals the more I want to draw them. In my daily interaction with animals I recognize many aspects in them that many would consider makes one human, such as emotions; fear, anger, joy, grief, affection or remorse. Things of which the existence is, from biological point of view, denied on the mistaken assumption that humans are different from all other animals when it's a given that humans are animals themselves. And I believe we have more similarities, on a fundamental level, than differences. Through my art I hope to pique the natural interest in animals I believe is inherent in everyone. By drawing fantastic creatures that have both human and animalistic features I hope to bring the two closer together and invite people to consider the resemblances rather than what sets us apart, because we cannot be apart. |
